What Is Mobick?
Mobick (ticker BMB) is a proof-of-work (PoW) coin created in 2019 by the first-generation Korean Bitcoiner and author Oh Tae-min, who hard-forked Bitcoin. Built on Bitcoin's technical foundation, it aims to be a scalable, legally stable blockchain platform that enterprises and institutions can actually use.
Key Features
- No outside investment: There was never any token sale such as an ICO or IEO. The initial distribution was carried out entirely through free airdrops.
- Zero founder holdings: The founder holds no personal tokens and has never sold any for private gain.
- Public Goods: Most of the issuance is designated as public goods rather than private assets, designed so that it can be distributed free of charge to enterprises, institutions, and the community.
- Verifiable: All 16 wallet addresses holding the public goods are public, so anyone can verify their balances via the Explorer.
It currently operates as a private blockchain, with a planned transition to a public blockchain targeted for 2029.
Origin of the Name
'Mobick' is derived from Herman Melville's novel Moby-Dick, a portmanteau of Mobile + Moby Dick. In the spirit of "the reason we seek the whale is that the whale must be found," the name carries the meaning of bringing the dormant 'whales' (large holders) of Bitcoin's early days up to the surface.
